The Family
The Family, the program commemorating the 55th anniversary of the launch of the TBS TV station, is a social drama depicting the inside story between bureaucrats, politicians, and big businesses over a bank merger revolving around the family discord between Daisuke Manpyō, the owner and president of Hanshin Bank, and his eldest son, Teppei.

Amidst deep family secrets and political power plays, the ambitious son of a business tycoon battles for success and approval in 1960s Kobe, Japan.

1. The Grand Family
Daisuke doesn't hide his disgust when his son Teppei is late to the family New Year's Eve dinner. Later, Teppei approaches his father with a proposal.

2. Truths and Tragedies of the Past
Teppei informs his employees that they'll move ahead with plans to build the blast furnace — even though he has yet to lock in the funding.

3. Destined to be Torn Apart
With Zenidaka, Teppei heads into Tokyo to visit the major banks to raise the remaining funds. Later, he reaches out to Okawa for help.

4. A Sad Betrayal
Teppei returns from a successful business trip to Chicago. Daisuke uncovers an act of corruption, but family loyalty prevents him from weaponizing it.

5. A Death that Split Fates
While Teppei tries to figure out who leaked the story about Okawa, Kazuko overhears her husband discussing that very subject with Daisuke.

6. Collapse of the Manpyo Clan
At Mikumo's urging, Daisuke finally agrees to provide Teppei with the remaining funds. Washima says he will not be renewing his contract after all.

7. The Tragic Furnace Explosion
Daisuke reveals the depths of his dark animosity. Just as the blast furnace is nearing completion, there's an explosion at the construction site.

8. The Truth Behind Teppei's Birth
Reeling after the revelations in Shino's letter, Teppei confronts his father in front of the whole family and asks him a very pointed question.

9. Finale, Part I: A Father-and-Son Battle on the Verge of Death
Father and son face off against each other in court, with each man taking the stand. In a surprising move, Teppei requests an unexpected witness.

10. Finale, Part II: A Determined Death... Towards the Future
With his back against the wall after damning testimony, Daisuke makes a shocking move, turning the tables on his son.
