Robert discovers Sarah sobbing by the roadside and learns her violent father Reginald is up to his eyes in debt, drinking heavily and planning to send Millie to an asylum. As events spiral out of control, a tragic confrontation leads to an uneasy bond between Robert and David. 3. Part 3

Robert receives mixed news about his family, while his growing friendship with the Thorman sisters fuels Dave Waters' bitter resentment. Stanley's decision to sell the estate provides the fatal spark which sets this emotional tinder ablaze, driving the unstable head man to commit a desperate act which directly endangers Millie's life.
