The Rich & The Ruthless
The Rich and The Ruthless, the only black owned daytime drama, is operated by tight fisted, debonair, self-made, Augustus Barringer. When greedy studio executives tell him the show is getting booted off the sound stages after 20 years, he is ready to fight back to stay on the air, even if it means filming his quirky soap opera out of his sleek Hollywood mansion or moving the company to Jamaica!
Seasons
1. Episode 1
The Rich and the Ruthless owner, Augustus Barringer does whatever it takes to protect his soap opera before network executive steal it from him. With the R&R cast in turmoil over who will get cut and who won't, it's Lights, Camera, Calamity and Claws on the set.
2. Episode 2
The Rich and the Ruthless cast is furious that they are being kept in the dark and must shoot from the Barringer's Hollywood mansion indefinitely. Add to that threats of pay cuts. WHAT?! Jealousy and backbiting abound as Calysta deals with a fisky producer and takes the high road, supported by her non-nonsense, Grandma Jones, visiting from Mississippi.
3. Episode 3
Adopted daughter, Veronica Barringer, show runner of Rich and the Ruthless is on the war path. Calysta wants to do a remote R&R shoot in Montego Bay with Derrick. Competing actress, Emmy Abernathy, is having an affair with Randall Roberts, Alison's husband behind the scenes. Kitty gets bad news at brunch. Phillip is on the edge. Will he leap?
4. Episode 4
Randall and soap star wife, Alison scheme on how to make the Barringer's life hell. R&R's 8 year old matriarch gives advice to Calysta. Calysta and Derrick get in to a fight in hair and makeup room. Kitty confronts her husband, Augustus. Network executive, Edith Norman meets with Augustus and Randall and turns the business licensing screws tighter. Grandma Jones gets busy with an R&R soap star.
5. Episode 5
The Rich and the Ruthless has moved to Jamaica and is up and running, sort of. They recast Willie Turner's part with legendary Jamaican actor, Samuel Oliver. Calysta and Derrick make up. Calysta has a nightmare. Randall and network executive, Edith attempt to override Augustus and take control of the soap opera. Augustus feels the pressure and collapses on his yacht. A funeral follows.
6. Episode 6
The Rich and the Ruthless team rushes back to Hollywood for a funeral. Kitty hires her bad-boy son, Maximillion Max Barringer without consulting anyone, to work on the show. Kitty makes a comeback. A game changer is in store for at least one Barringer. Cliffhanger.
