The Strip
The Strip is an Australian television drama series that screened on the Nine Network. The series premiered on the Nine Network at 8:30pm on 4 September 2008 but was moved to a later 10:30pm timeslot from 13 November 2008. The show did not return for a second season, due to disappointing ratings. The Strip was released on DVD on 4 July 2009.
Seasons
1. Pilot
When a window cleaner falls to his death, the detectives at Main Beach CIB are called to investigate. Why was he murdered? The Strip is the hub of the Gold Coast, inhabited by the bold and the beautiful, the rich and the desperate. The lure of a wealthy lifestyle has brought those who have it, those who want it, and the criminals who will take it if they can. The elite Main Beach CIB, a small detective unit, is keeping a watchful eye over The Strip.
2. Murdered, Chopped Up, and Frozen
Murdered, chopped up, frozen. Chipped. And spread from one end of the Gold Coast to the other. But who would do that to a glamorous air hostess, and why? Cross and Tully's search for Else Douglas's killer takes them from the jetsetting world of international flight attendants to the world of the body beautiful. Athletes and body builders striving for perfection, the perfectly sculpted physique, at any cost. That means steroids for some. But there's one antiageing, illegal performance enhancing wonder drug they're all dying to get their hands on… When their first suspect turns up dead and Charlie Palmer, Tully's ex-partner-turned-private-eye arrives, Cross is unimpressed. He doesn't like Charlie much. But Tully does. A lot. She always did. And when their friendship turns into something more is Cross just a bit jealous? Or is there something more sinister going on? Something Charlie's not telling Tully?
3. Russian Entrepreneur
When a Russian entrepreneur, Katz, is mysteriously killed on the edge of a waterfront mansion, the detectives have little to go on. Tully and Cross investigate the victim's profile and discover that Katz was a ruthless man, his hands dirty with many crimes. Is rebirthing conflict diamonds one of them? And what or who is the local connection? Charismatic nightclub owner, Ivan Lazar is also from Russia. He says he has no connection with Katz. But is that the truth? The case becomes personal for Tully and Cross when one of their witnesses is killed and their quest for justice is obstructed. Tully and Cross suspect Lazar is behind it, but can they prove it?
4. Schoolie's Week
It's Schoolie's Week on The Strip - the biggest annual event on the Gold Coast and the biggest social event in a teenager's life. And when local girl Zoe is murdered during what was supposed to be the time of her life, every parent's worst nightmare.
5. Mysterious Yacht
A sleek, mysterious yacht. A handsome, charming skipper. When a Maritime Services officer checking the yacht's bona fides winds up dead, Terry, the yacht's skipper, is only too happy to help. But is he who he says he is? And just what did happen to his crew out there in the Pacific Ocean?
6. Dead Model in a Hotel Room
Fiona Worth is the closest you get to Gold Coast royalty. She's a self-made woman, a millionaire with a string of successful weight loss centres. So how and why does her son's partner, Julie, turn up dead in a local hotel room? Trying to solve the mysterious death, detectives Cross and Tully become entangled in a web of great wealth, prostitution and pornography. The investigation heats up as the darkest secrets of the Gold Coast are exposed for all to see.
7. Surfie Shot
When a surfer is shot in broad daylight by a sniper, and a car dealer narrowly escapes a hand grenade blast, the cops have two people attacked with military hardware in two days. But is that the only connection they have? Or is there something else going on?
8. Dead in a Hotel Spa
A pre-season football trip. A luxurious hotel. Overpaid, over-sexed sporting heroes, partying hard. When a football legend turns up dead in the hotel spa, the team is called to investigate. But how did Charlie, Tully's ex-partner, beat them to the crime scene?
9. House of Ill Repute
Tully discovers a triple murder at a brothel owned by local crime boss Ivan Lazar. The police soon realise they are caught in the middle of an underworld power struggle.
10. Distractions
A bankrupt, cocaine-snorting property developer, with business links to crime boss Lazar, is found dead in the canal. A widow, a psychic, an ex husband, and a tradesman are all suspects in the murder.
11. The Sonic Bikini in the Sand
Beautiful young council worker by day, rock chick by night. How did Michelle end up floating in the blue waters off Point Danger? And why is she wearing just one magnificent diamond earring?
12. Tied Up in a Red Suitcase
The police suspect a Yakuza assassination when a Japanese girl is found dead in a suitcase, however the detectives also investigate her fetish with plastic surgery, leading Tully and Cross to the handsome and urbane surgeon, Dr Timothy George. Meanwhile, Amy has information that can bring the Lazar empire tumbling down.
13. Finale
A disturbing phone call sees Cross and Tully race to Amy's apartment, only to find her missing and an intruder turning the place upside down. They know only one man could have taken her, Ivan Lazar.
