Leading Taiwan cinema names Hou Hsiao-hsien (“The Assassin,” “The Puppetmaster”) and Lee Kang-sheng (“Days,” “Goodbye, Dragon Inn”) are attached to “Twisted Strings”, a TV anthology series backed by HBO Asia and streamer Catchplay.The seven-part series is written and directed by Golden Horse-nominated director, Huang Xi (“Missing Johnny”). Hou is attached as the series executive producer. Lee, who has appeared exclusively in films over the past 30 years, notably those of famed Malaysian director Tsai Ming-liang, stars.

A funeral. A missing body. The deceased wanted to be reassured and his children want to save themselves the trouble. However, none of their wishes is granted.

Some games are dangerous and some memories unreliable. The duo, each has their own aims, set out to finish the cursed game.

A man, who ran a popular drag show, is avoiding his creditors. He kidnaps a terminally ill boy from a wealthy family. Who will be redeemed or liberated in the end?

The police get a tip-off about the illegal firecrackers stored in a joss paper shop. The inspection leads to the discovery of not only firecrackers but a cruel truth.

Zian leads a boring life with her boyfriend. One day, a strange woman appears in Zian's life. Manipulated by that woman, Zian begins to change.
