Seven years after his paintings landed him in the middle of a police case gone wrong, Shen Yi joins the Criminal Investigation Bureau of the Beijiang Branch as the new portrait artist. But Captain Du Cheng is less than welcoming to the new transfer.

When a plastic surgeon dies of cyanide poisoning, Du Cheng must find the five plastic surgery clients whose hidden tapes are missing. But to make a match to medical records, Shen Yi must restore the faces from the videos to the way they looked before surgery.

After wrapping up the plastic surgeon’s murder, the team is called to investigate the discovery of a skeleton in a school field. Meanwhile, Du Cheng is puzzled and suspicious about why Shen Yi disappeared from the art world seven years ago and now has become a policeman.

After an heiress escapes a kidnapping by her boyfriend, the team discovers that no one by his name can be found in the police system to match his description. Shen Yi is asked to draw the boyfriend in order to track down the kidnappers.

Du Cheng requires Shen Yi’s assistance to solve the abduction of a child, but Shen Yi’s behavior continues to make him suspicious.

Shen Yi asks Du Cheng for assistance recovering his memories, while the team works to solve the robbery of a jewelry store.

The team continues to hunt down the jewelry store robber and the unusual connection to a missing man. To help solve the case, Shen Yi must use a child’s portrait to draw the biological father.

A police officer is killed in a similar manner to Li Yifei seven years ago, the team must try to find the missing woman who connects all the cases. The team is also assigned a second murder case, involving a wife who claims to have killed her husband in self-defence.

As the evidence continues to mount against the wife who murders her husband, she insists It was out of self-defence. But Shen Yi thinks she might still be lying.

Shen Yi works with another police team to solve a rape case. Meanwhile, Du Cheng meets Shen Yi’s mentor when he visits the Beijiang Branch to see Shen Yi…

Shen Yi’s senior requests that he hold a joint art exhibition to commemorate their teacher, while Du Cheng investigates forgeries of Shen Yi’s old paintings, leading to Shen Yi confronting a scammer.

Du Cheng’s sister crashes Shen Yi’s lecture, giving him some interesting history about Du Cheng and his family. Du Cheng goes on a blind date for the first time, but turns into something a little bit more.

The team investigates a bomb delivered by courier to a metal processing facility. As several more explosions are reported in the following days, all teams must be mobilized to solve the case as soon as possible.

As the bombing case resolves with a tense hostage standoff, the woman known as He Hong resurfaces with terrible consequences.

The investigation into the woman M, and her previous case connections, continues. But the evidence begins to point towards a situation far more serious for the team.
