The circumstances of Magda's disappearance seem increasingly ghostly. Other incidents and residents of the sleepy village also puzzle Lara. 15-year-old Aaron Wagner is a new addition to Lara's class. The introverted boy's mother seeks Lara's help. She is strangely worried that her divorced husband is forcing the boy to perform strange rituals. Lara takes on the matter and quickly finds herself confronted with forces that cannot come from this world. Lara finds allies in the esoterically gifted alternative practitioner Dorothea Freiberg (Sabine Vitua) and the emeritus professor Rudolf Klein (Peter Franke). At first the three have no idea what demons they have to face, but then it becomes clear: Lara herself plays a central role in this mystery.

In the small town of Wäldern in the Bergisches Land, young people are mysteriously disappearing. It quickly becomes clear that these are not normal missing persons cases - an ancient danger lurks in a labyrinth beneath the town. Lara Glanz is still looking for her niece Magda, who the police have declared dead. but then Merle appears out of nowhere, standing dripping wet in her parents' garden. The girl is a different person - she speaks loving words, but moves through her former home as if remotely controlled. Above all, however, Merle seeks Lara's company. It turns out that Lara and her past are themselves part of the strange occurrences in Wäldern.
