Every Move You Make is a 2010 Hong Kong police procedural television serial drama produced by TVB. The 20-episode drama originally aired five days a week, running from 4 to 29 October 2010 on the TVB Jade channel. In the show, Senior Inspector Linus Yiu and his colleagues of West Kowloon Police Headquarter's CID unit use the Facial Action Coding System, body language study, microexpression interpretations, and applied psychology to solve and assist in criminal investigations. The human's gesture, can be pretended by the cerebrum, but when facing unusual events happening all of a sudden, or being questioned unawares,then the human's gesture will finally tell the truth.
Seasons
1. Episode 1
Senior Inspector YIU HOK-SUM is attending a mind-reading course in the US. SUN’s father YIU TIN-PO died when he was a child. The unhappy memory of how he witnessed his father’s death comes back to him during a lesson. SUM has returned from the US. His mother, CHUNG SAU-HAN, hopes that he can go to dim sum with his stepfather, CHING SHIU-HONG, and his sisters. SUM goes with his half sister, PUI-YEE. At the restaurant, SUM finds a customer’s behavior very strange. On the day he resumes his duties, SUM finds that his team has grown stronger. In addition to old members MAK WING-HEI and WU HAU-YING, Sergeant HO LAI-YIN and Station Sergeant YIP CHIN-TING have also joined the team. SUM cracks a scapegoat plot with just a small effort. TING and YIN are impressed by his remarkable mind-reading skills and powers of observation. A woman named LEUNG SZ-MAN has been strangled. SUM, TING and other team members arrive at the scene……
2. Episode 2
SUM uses the concept of intimate distance to explain MAN and SANG’s underground relationship. YIN does not agree with his conclusion. SUM has bought a gold peach for HAN on her birthday. SUM’s aunts have never liked HAN, so they are jealous when they see the gold peach. They even tease about HAN’s humble background when she is singing on the stage. SUM and TING interrogate SANG’s wife, MEI-YU. They are surprised when YU stresses that SANG and she are an affectionate couple. According to the result of HEI’s investigation, SANG has lost a lot of money in investment. He once lost two million dollars at one go, but he only earns fifty thousand dollars a month. What is even more unusual is that he is always able to recover his debt. YIN arrests SANG, who is trying to flee. SUM and YEE see a robbery. When SUM is describing the robbers’ features to the police officers in charge, MEI-SZ, an old friend of his, walks towards him.
3. Episode 3
SUM visits SZ at her memory school. SZ introduces LAI CHUN-HUNG, one of the tutors, to him. SUM and SZ have lunch together. SUM tells SZ he would not have become a cop if she had not taught him the Memory Palace memory skills when they were young. A man has jumped down from a building. SUM is astonished to learn that the man is HUNG. He concludes this is not an ordinary suicide. SZ reveals that another tutor named WILSON has once invited HUNG to join another school. She managed to persuade HUNG to stay by paying him a lot of money, but by doing so, WILSON had to pay the other school three million dollars as compensation. YIN asks SUM why he did not take WILSON back to the station. SUM says he needs to pay attention to WILSON’s microexpressions, but he fears YIN’s double charge pen spinning trick will affect him. SUM goes through the teaching VCDs of SZ’s memory school. TV host NGAI WAING-SHAN was one of HUNG’s students……
4. Episode 4
HEI reports to SUM and TING on what he has found in HUNG’s room. He suspects HUNG has joined a religious cult. YIN goes from house to house trying to find out more about the case. According to a videotape provided by a neighbor of HUNG’s, HUNG and WILSON had a fight on the rooftop the night before he died. SUM calls TING back to the police station, where he tells her about his discovery of SZ and HUNG’s relationship. YIN and SUM have an argument. YIN accuses SUM of favoring SZ during his investigation. This nevertheless inspires SUM, who returns to where HUNG ended his life with TING immediately. When they get there, SUM points out that HUNG’s death might have something to do with the Memory Palace memory skills. Later in the evening, SZ gets a call from WILSON threatening to…
5. Episode 5
The case has been closed. SUM and his teammates celebrate at a bar. YIN cannot believe it when SUM commends his performance. YEE is chilling out with some friends nearby. A friend of hers is also good at pen spinning. So she calls and invites YIN to have a competition with her friend. The next day, YEE is organizing an anti-crime activity at a shopping mall. She is thrilled by surprise when YIN shows up. UNCLE LEUNG, the chef of Tai Hung To Restaurant, is retiring soon. The Ching family throws a banquet for him. YIN-HA, one of SUM’s aunts, accuses HAN for badmouthing his son CHIT-KIT for no apparent reasons. Famous artiste CHOW YUEN-WAI reports to the police that TANG CHUNG-HIN, son of a tycoon in town, has raped her. He is holding a wedding ceremony when the Serious Crime Unit arrives at his place. At the police station, HIN recalls how WAI seduced him at a bar and how they ended up at a hotel.
6. Episode 6
The team study the case together. WAI’s parents have both died. She became a singer after she had graduated in the UK. HIN’s mother, FUN, tells HIN off when she learns that he has called off his wedding. SUM discovers fresh evidence as he is watching WAI’s videos again. Later, he watches the video of which HIN is taking WAI to a hotel with his subordinates. He points to them a very important piece of evidence. WAI is shooting for a MTV. The wire that is used to lift her into the air suddenly breaks down and she is admitted to hospital. SUM finds a photo of WAI and model LAM OI-KEI on the Internet. He also finds that KEI had reported to the police three years ago that HIN had raped her. Not soon afterwards however, she was killed in a car accident. A masked person ambushes HIN when he is visiting FUN at the hospital. HUNG KWAN saves him in the nick of time.
7. Episode 7
WAI tells SUM she and KEI are half sisters when he asks her about her relationship with KEI. Three years ago, KEI told WAI when they were chatting online that HIN had raped her. WAI encouraged her to report the case to the police. Unfortunately, KEI was knocked down by a car later and died. SUM interrogates HIN at his house. Before he leaves, he points out there is something strange about FUN’s behavior. SUM and HAN watch the TV together. HAN tells him FUN was very popular among men in the early days and that KWAN was one of her boyfriends. SUM and TING go to a scrap yard to look for KWAN. HAN sees SUM staring at a photo of him and his father. Something suddenly clicks which is crucial to the case when he is chatting with HAN. HIN, FUN and KWAN have been taken to the police station. SUM arranges them to testify in the same investigation room, where HIN loses his temper and points his fingers at KWAN…
8. Episode 8
YIN and YEE go to the movie together. YIN wants to make open their relationship, but YEE wishes he could do something to improve his relationship with SUM first. The case has been cracked. YING believes it calls for a celebration. SUM suggests playing tennis and throwing a BBQ party. YING’s female friends flock to YIN at the party. YEE is not pleased. Some hikers have found a corpse on the mountain. YIN and HEI run into some illegal immigrants when they are collecting evidence. After watching the video of YIN and HEI’s interrogations, SUM concludes that the murder was not carried out by the illegal immigrants. It turns out that the victim is well-known paint dealer WONG CHUN-YUE. His daughter, WONG PUI-MAN, tells TING she did not go hiking with because of a foot injury. The team go to YUE’s house to probe into the case. YUE’s son, HIU-TUNG, has an emotional breakdown all of a sudden. He tells the team YUE had been cursed…
9. Episode 9
MAN and TUNG are having a fierce fight when TING and HEI arrive. MAN accuses TUNG of hiding the “River of Leaves”, YUE’s favorite painting, with his wife XIAOLI. SUM asks MAN why she had to pretend to be injured. She has no choice but confesses she had an argument with her father over her opening of a gallery. TING and YIN carry out an investigation at the Chun Fai Garden Columbarium. They see a woman burning something and acting strangely. It is found out later she was burning the “River of Leaves”. Both MADAM MYSTIC and MAN have alibi for the day when YUE was killed. SUM invites TUNG for investigation. TUNG loses control when SUM turns to question XIAOLI. YIN is injured when he is trying to protect SUM. SUM asks MADAM MYSTIC to help him find his long lost father.
10. Episode 10
SUM studies MADAM MYSTIC’s oracle. YING and the others join him. YIN tells YEE he has found out the reason for SUM’s emotional knot. YEE is upset. The CHING’s family have dim sum with their relatives. YEE agrees with her relatives’ suggestion of requesting SUM to change his surname. SUM discovers from YUE’s videotapes that he took very good care of XIAOLI, even though she has not married TUNG yet at that time. SUM and TING go to MAN’s gallery to check out about XIAOLI’s background. Later, TING finds XIAOLI’s behavior rather odd when she and YIN are questioning her. SUM turns to MADAM MYSTIC again. He is willing to pay any price if she can help him untie his emotional knot. Inspired by YEE, SUM decides to use the theory of preconception to lure the murder into showing up...
11. Episode 11
XIAOLI cancels her membership in a beauty parlor but applies for membership in another branch right afterwards. She sends away the staff of the beauty parlor with a trick then deletes her personal data from the computer. The case has closed. YIN throws a BBQ party at his place. TING injures herself when she is preparing for the food. YEE gets her the first-aid box almost immediately. SUM asks YEE on their way home how long she has been going out with YIN. SUM asks TING about YIN’s hobbies so as to learn more about him. TSING WING-SHING, owner of an investment firm, has been shot to death at a restaurant. SUM and his teammates look from clues from the videotape collected from the restaurant. He is rather surprised to see there is a man in the tape who looks alike his father, TIN-PO. What confuses him even more is that the man seems to know SHING.
12. Episode 12
SUM tells his mother about the man when he is home, only to be told to accept the fact that PO has died. YEE is treating her family members to lunch. HAN runs into PO on the way. TING and YIN go to LO CHI-FAI’s house for investigation. FAI owns a factory. He asked SHING to invest for him. He has run up huge debt as a result. Noticing FAI’s odd behavior, YIN decides to put him to a test. TING goes to the hotel where SHING is staying. When she gets there, a man she does not know of is using SHING’s laptop. SUM’s uncle, SHIU-ON, says that his son, YIP, knows that a rich man is interested in investing in his restaurant. As SUM is good at mind-reading, YIP hopes that he could join them at their meeting with the rich man.
13. Episode 13
The Ching family have a meeting with the Director of Wing Fung Group, MR CHOW. HA is still very excited when they are home. ON asks SUM how he finds DIRECTOR CHOW. There are four areas SUM finds suspicious about DIRECTOR CHOW. YIP, hanging his head, tells DIRECTOR CHOW he has failed to persuade his father into cooperating with him. YIP is beaten up by DIRECTOR CHOW’s men. It turns out DIRECTOR CHOW he has found out about YIP’s secret. SUM gets a call from HONG telling him HAN has been admitted to hospital. YEE tells SUM about HAN’s recent absent-mindedness. SUM sees PO as he is leaving the hospital. HAN is discharged. The family go to dim sum together. It comes as something of a surprise when SUM shows up with PO. SUM has rented a cozy apartment, where he plans to live with PO…
14. Episode 14
HAN visits PO with SUM. She and PO are on their own when SUM goes out to shop. She begs PO to leave her and her family members alone. YIN and YEE go out together. YIN notices that someone is taking photographs of them. HONG tells HAN how ON is playing the baddy in order to ruin Wing Fung Group’s project. He then encourages her to see PO. The family go to have seafood with PO. PO, pretending to be drunk, lists out everyone’s daily activity one by one. Taking TING’s suggestion, SUM goes to the Temple Street to buy HAN some Chinese opera CDs. He is taken aback when he sees her performing on the street. When he is home, PO is nowhere to be seen. Out of curiosity, he enters PO’s room. What he finds puzzles him…
15. Episode 15
TING discovers that PO is going out with some strangers. She follows him to a cafe, where he is meeting a woman. Finding this suspicious, she tells SUM to meet her at the police station. To her surprise and disappointment, SUM does not believe what she has told him. SUM and HAN have dinner at Temple Street. Just when he wants to ask his mother what has been bothering her lately, PO appears suddenly. SUM can see that HAN is very afraid of PO. SUM looks for YIP at a bar. YIP gets irritated when SUM talks about the cooperation between the restaurant and Wing Fung Group. SUM is taken aback when YIP says HONG has already agreed to invest in it. SUM is getting nearer and nearer to the truth. He invites PO to go fishing with him, during which he gives PO one million dollars…
16. Episode 16
Everybody in the Ching family grumble about PO. ON points the finger at HAN. SUM visits PO, who opens his heart to him. The Serious Crime Unit is investigating into a murder case. According to the forensic pathologist, the victim was kicked to death. Meanwhile, triad gang leader ANTHRAX and his men arrive to hold a memory ceremony for the victim, who they claim is their subordinate. The Serious Crime Unit invites LENG WING-TAI, better known as PRINCE, to go to the police station for further investigation. PRINCE insists he is innocent. The team finds a man whose name is CHIU MAN-HOI rather suspicious. HOI was YIN’s senior at secondary school with who YIN was very good friend. HOI has recently been released from prison and is now working as a hawker for a living. His wife has died, and his mother-in-law looks after his daughter. YEE wants to pick his dad up from the restaurant but is prevented by her relatives.
17. Episode 17
HOI is admitted to hospital. YIN asks him whether he has been beaten up by triad members. ANTHRAX complains that YIN has threatened him. SUM summons YIN to go to his office to tell him this. Unwilling to see SUM treating HOI unfairly, YIN tells SUM HOI used to be an undercover. SUM makes use of his mind-reading skill to test whether HOI is lying. He then goes to see a retired cop called TIN-WING, who HOI said was his supervisor in the past. WING says HOI has never been an undercover. YING is upset to see HEI going out with a young lady of note. HEI announces his resignation, as his girlfriend has found him a well-paid job. WING, severely injured, runs out from a back-alley then faints. SUM concludes that HOI has not lied after quizzing him.
18. Episode 18
SUM and the others wait for HOI as he is being treated at the emergency room. The doctor says HOI’s injury on his right leg has resulted in its lack of strength. YEE, who is on the phone, looks very angry. HONG and HAN want to give her some words of consolation, but SUM asks HONG why he has been going out a lot with a restaurant hostess. WING has come round. SUM and TING visit him. As WING has difficulty in speaking because of his throat injury, SUM instructs him to answer his questions by winking. ANTHRAX has been killed. TING notices that the footprints on his body are very similar to those on the victim of the previous murder case. SUM and the others go to HOI’s house to arrest him. They are surprised to find YIN, who has just woken up, in HOI’s room. Enlightened by TING, SUM sets about to find out more information about HOI’s days in prison from the Correctional Services.
19. Episode 19
SUM suggests that HOI may have suffered from dual personality disorder. Police handler, LAI SIR, has once saved HOI. SUM and TING manage to contact him, who now lives in Australia. HEI’s girlfriend is going abroad in two days. She hopes that HEI can go with him. HEI turns her down, saying that he has not completed his service yet. The lovers break up with each other. HOI’s daughter has gone missing. He suspects it was PRINCE who took her away. SUM is teaching. HOI, holding TING hostage, forces into the classroom. He orders SUM to find KA-KA in two hours. PRINCE denies he has kidnapped HOI’s daughter. It has taken TING a lot of persuasion before he agrees to have a web meeting with HOI.
20. Episode 20
HOI learns about the truth at long last. He points his gun at SUM, demanding that TING brings PRINCE to the classroom in half an hour. YIN is lying in coma in hospital. SUM cannot help but reveal his plan to TING and YEE. YING teaches HEI how he can get back his resignation letter from SUM. He, however, says he will never make a good cop. While he is saying this, he takes out a pair of lovers watch. YEE and YIN’s teammates go to the hospital to take YIN home. YEE has agreed to marry YIN. In order to have more time preparing for her fight for her son’s custody, TING decides to apply for a clerical job. SUM goes to have a word with her husband. He also asks him how much he knows about his son. TING could not be more taken aback when SUM asks her to stay.
